Position: Marketing and Communications Intern
REACH: Provides individualized reading, writing and life skills tutoring that empowers adults in the Sioux Empire to reach their potential. Our vision is for all adults to have the literacy skills they desire.
Description: REACH literacy seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist in marketing and communication efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing, while working for a small and vibrant community based non-profit organization.
Time Commitment: 10 - 12 hours a week; 2 - 3 months;
Start Date: Beginning of June
Update and maintain REACH’s social media presence, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Assist in planning, writing and designing monthly flyers for REACH a Reader promotion.
Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other public relations content.
Design flyers, graphics and e-vites and other marketing materials for events.
Update the REACH website as needed.
Contact community organizations, general public and donors with the message about REACH and REACH a Reader.
Collaborate with executive director on new ideas, directions and venues for marketing and communications.
Firm grasp of available and appropriate social media tools and platforms.
Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g. English, marketing, communications or public relations)
Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus
Must be computer literate (working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
Must demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oral
Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts
Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail–oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
Enthusiasm for the mission of REACH and the adults we serve
