Meet Mo, Our Program Assistant

Meet Mo, our program assistant who helps with English classes and contributing wherever there is a need in our programs and bookstore. Below is a Q&A to learn a little about Mo.

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Spearfish, South Dakota, but I have lived in Sioux Falls long enough to consider it my hometown.

Describe yourself in five words.

Crunch bars and Kathryn Hahn.

If you could be any fictional character, who would it be?

Kathleen Kelly or Rory Gilmore (pre-Yale). Both are ambitious and have pretty cozy lives where they’re surrounded by good people and books.

What book could you reread over and over again?

John Green’s Anthropocene Reviewed is very re-readable. It’s a great mix of thoughtful and funny essays.

If you had a theme song, what would it be?

“To Be Surprised” by Sondre Lerche

What’s a book you think everyone should read at least once in their lifetime?

The Time of Our Singing by Richard Powers. Or Porcupine’s Pajama Party by Terry Harshman.

What’s your favorite way to discover new books?

I love to find new books through mentors, suggestions I hear from readers with similar taste on TikTok, and authors who pop up as guests on my favorite podcasts and radio shows.

Name three people you would invite to your dream dinner party.

I think Gilda Radner, Nate Bargatze, and R. L. Stine would make fun guests!
